Shortly after the release of the first Fifty Shades film, the future of the movies was thrown into doubt by lacklustre reviews – despite the fact that it had a phenomenal opening weekend, and broke box office records everywhere.

Jamie Dornan was rumoured to be unhappy with the critical panning received by 50 Shades of Grey, director Sam Taylor-Johnson quit the franchise in March 2015, and then there were the allegations of a lack of chemistry between Dornan and Dakota Johnson.

However people needn’t have worried; Fifty Shades Darker – complete with masquerade balls, stalkers, and love rivals on yachts – is set for release on Valentine's Day 2017.

And the third film in the series, Fifty Shades Freed, is already scheduled for release in February 2018.
