At last, we’ve been given a small snippet from Fantastic Beasts 2.
Believe it or not, but it’s been nearly a full long year since Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them first premiered. Now, finally, fans have been given their first look at the highly-anticipated sequel – and it’s safe to say that they’re losing their minds a little bit.
Taking to Twitter, the creators dropped an image of Newt Scamander’s application for a travel permit – and it’s been denied. The reasoning? “Subject uncooperative and evasive on reasons for last trip.”
We imagine that this is probably due to the events of the first film, which saw young magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) journey to New York City in the height of the Twenties. Cue magic, mystery, murder and a veritable plethora of magical creatures. Then, of course, there was that incredible battle with Gellert Grindelwald – aka the dark wizard whom die-hard Harry Potter fans will know shares a troubled relationship with Albus Dumbledore.
The permit also tells us Scamander’s birthday: 24 February 1897.

Fans, predictably, have gone to town over the image.
“Can’t wait,” one user wrote.
“More! More! More!,” another pleaded.
All we can think, though, is that we’re so incredibly grateful to JK Rowling.
When we finished the final page of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we all thought that was the end of our own adventure through the pages of the wizarding world.
How wrong we were.
The title to the second film has yet to be shared, but earlier this year we found out a bit more.
In a statement, Warner Bros said: “JK Rowling wrote the screenplay for the film, which opens in 1927, a few months after Newt helped to unveil and capture the infamous Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
“However, as he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore.
“But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.
“The adventure reunites Newt with Tina, Queenie and Jacob, but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.”
We can’t wait to enter the wizarding world once again. Wands at the ready.
