Oxford Dictionaries have just added over 300 new words and phrases to their online collection.

As ever, the entries that made the cut range from phrases we’re used to hearing in our everyday language, such as ‘squad goals’ and ‘drunk texts’, to the slightly less obvious ones, including ‘aquafaba’ (a substitute for egg whites used in vegan cooking) and ‘skitch’ (hitching onto a motor vehicle while riding a bike, skateboard, etc.)

Brilliantly, there is a whole new host of official foodie terms added to this year's haul, ranging from the delicious-sounding ‘shoestring fries’ (French fries sliced extremely thinly) to the Thai noodle dish of ‘pad kee mao’.

There is also an extensive new list of fitness-related words, including ‘fitspiration’ and ‘bracket-buster’.
