2016 has proven to be a very successful and productive year for Sarah Jessica Parker.

Not only has her new role in HBO’s Divorce been met with critical acclaim, but she’s also launched her own range of little black dresses, teased a return to Sex And The City, and blown our minds with an intriguing new conspiracy theory about her iconic character, Carrie Bradshaw.

But she’s not done surprising us just yet.

The actress has now announced her plans to turn her attention to the world of literature.

Earlier this week, SJP announced her new position as editorial director for SJP at Hogarth Publishing, where she will help to “find, edit, and publish three to four new novels a year.”

In the process, she intends to help discover and nurture a new community of upcoming writers.

“I have always loved to read for the same reason I love to act, which is that other people's stories are more interesting to me than my own,” she said in a statement.

“As a lifelong book lover, as someone who treasures and admires the skill and talent of original and powerful story tellers it is my great privilege to be invited into the world and business of books.”

She continued: “Especially thrilling to join those who serve the rich history that is Hogarth.

“I so look forward to offering to readers the sort of books that have inspired my life long devotion to the written word.”

Molly Stern, one of the head honchos at Hogarth, added that she is very excited to welcome SJP to the team – and that it has been in the works ever since she met the 51-year-old a few years ago.

She said: “From the moment we met, I was drawn to Sarah Jessica's extraordinary passion for books and her natural instinct for what makes for great writing.

“The Hogarth editorial team and I cannot wait to partner with her as she brings her excellent taste and infectious enthusiasm to bear in support of both writers and reading.”

However, before you get too excited, we have a little while to wait before SJP’s list of “high-quality works of fiction by both established writers and distinctive emerging voices with critical and commercial promise” hits the shelves.

According to the press release, it’s not anticipated to debut until 2018.
