The highly anticipated fan-made Harry Potter prequel, entitled Voldemort: Origins of the Heir, has been uploaded to YouTube, raking up millions of views.

Since the trailer for fan-made film Voldemort: Origins of the Heir dropped online six months ago, Harry Potter fans across the world have eagerly awaited it’s full arrival – until now.

The full 52-minute production – which tells the tale of Tom Marvolo Riddle’s life before becoming Lord Voldemort – has now been uploaded to YouTube and has already gained over six million views.

The Italian movie, redubbed in English, was originally funded through Kickstarter. But after coming across the campaign in June 2017, Warner Bros. (the makers behind all eight Harry Potter films) reached an agreement with the filmmakers, Tryangle Films, and allowed the production to go ahead, providing it was released in a “non-profit way”.

“We had a private and confidential discussion with Warner Bros. who contacted us during the period of the crowdfunding campaign,” director Gianmaria Pezzato told Polygon.

“The only thing we can say is that they let us proceed with the film, in a non-profit way, obviously.” Which is good news for us as we can watch it for free.

The story follows the character of Grisha, heir of Hogwarts founder Godric Gryffindor, as she tries to uncover the untold story of Lord Voldemort’s life.

“We wondered, ‘What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort?’” said director Pezzato, speaking of how the story came together. “What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back?

“There are some clues in the books which have not been transposed at all in the movies, but a lot goes unspoken. This is the story we want to tell: The rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise.”

And so far fans are loving it, taking to Twitter to express their views:

“I miss Harry Potter and the magical world so much so I watched Voldemort Origins of the Heir. Please JK Rowling we need another book to survive in this world,” one user wrote, directing her tweet to the author.

Voldemort Origins of the Heir was okay, solid 8.5/10. Not bad for a fan-fiction,” another user posted.

“I’ve just finished watching Voldemort Origins of the Heir and it was absolutely amazing! They did such I great job and put a huge effort in it. You definitely have to see it if you haven’t yet,” another user posted.
