The products Stylist’s beauty team love right now
From inexpensive treats to investment haircare. Plus! We’ve found a genuinely good spot treatment and a pop-up offering skin consultations for just £5

Mood changer

It’s not exactly new, but I’ve just been introduced to the world of May Lindstrom and am intoxicated. The Jasmine Garden Botanical Face Mist (£62, Space NK) combines colloidal silver (antibacterial and heals skin) and witch hazel with the most uplifting blend of rose and ylang ylang. It works exceptionally before masks and serums to increase absorption, and I use it as part of my morning routine. Trust me, it makes such a difference. Ava Welsing-Kitcher, junior beauty writer

Peachy keen

Call me basic, but there’s something insanely satisfying about plonking a fancy bottle of hand wash and lotion next to your sink. Right now, I’m using & Other Stories’ new Avant-Garde Air collection (£6 each). It’s the colour of orange squash, so already pretty joy-inducing, but it also smells heavenly – like peaches sprinkled with brown sugar and drenched in vanilla cream. Dreamy. Shannon Peter, beauty director

That base

I’ve used the same foundation for years, but Pat McGrath’s long-awaited Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation (£60, Selfridges) immediately knocked it off the top spot. It’s six times the price of my regular base, but the dewy finish, blendable, buildable and lightweight/longwear formula make it worthy – I promise. Available in 36 shades across five different tone levels, it’s the real deal. Lucy Partington, beauty editor

No strings attached

Ever found yourself pining for a plug point in a festival tent or searching for a spare adaptor on holiday? The Babyliss 9000 (£250) is a full-sized cordless, chargeable straightener and, unlike most wireless products we’ve seen in the past, it really works. When I tried it, it heated up in seconds and the ‘floating’ ceramic plates glided across my hair, leaving it with a silky, glossy sheen. Not cheap, but totally worth it. Hanna Ibraheem, beauty writer

Floral fling

We’ve been passing a bottle of Jo Malone’s new Poppy and Barley Cologne (£98 for 100ml) back and forth across the beauty desk for weeks now. It’s one of those rare breed fragrances that satiates everyone’s tastes. Yes it’s got the light, velvetiness of a floral (there’s poppy, rose and violet in there) but the inclusion of barley gives it a hefty creaminess that we just can’t. Stop. Sniffing. Stylist Loves’ deputy editor Moya Crockett has finally found a spot treatment that works on hormonal acne

Every month, deep, angry zits spring up on my chin: an early warning sign that my period’s due. Since acne along the chin and jaw is usually linked to hormones, not lifestyle factors, I’d assumed there wasn’t much I could do about these unwelcome visitors.

But then a tube of Ren’s ClearCalm Non-Drying Spot Treatment landed on my desk. This non-sticky gel renders smaller pimples almost invisible overnight, while dramatically bringing down the redness and swelling of really livid spots. And somehow, it does this without leaving my sensitive skin flaky, tight or stinging. Put simply, it’s the only acne treatment I’ve ever found that actually works. Miraculous. £15, Ren Skincare
