Where to eat, what to see and the only event to book this month
September’s going great, you guys. There’s a delicious foodie launch and bao pairings of your fluffiest dreams, but first – three dreamy new exhibitions

Capturing creativity

There’s a magical otherworldliness in the work of British fashion photographer Tim Walker. Colours abound in rich hues and subjects veer from the mysterious and haunting to the childlike and ecstatic. And you can immerse yourself in it at the V&A’s Tim Walker: Wonderful Things, exploring his creative process through an incredible archive – plus 10 new photographs, directly influenced by pieces in the V&A’s vast collection. From £15; 21 Sept – 8 March 2020; Cromwell Rd, SW7

More than muses

Luminescent women with long, lustrous hair and just-bitten lips stare hauntingly from the canvases of Pre-Raphaelite paintings. These women were artists, immigrants, studio assistants, wives and more who helped sustain and shape the movement. They have their own stories that spill out of the canvases and, 160 years after the first pictures went on show, they are being told in Pre-Raphaelite Sisters at the National Portrait Gallery. Spellbinding. From £18; 17 Oct – 26 Jan 2020; St Martin’s Place, WC2H

Bold cuts

Dame Zandra ‘pink hair don’t care’ Rhodes rose to notoriety in the 60s with her eponymous label, dressing everyone from Freddie Mercury to Princess Diana in her romantic, cascading and patterned pieces. This year, she’ll celebrate 50 years in fashion with a retrospective at the Fashion and Textile Museum, Zandra Rhodes: 50 Years of Fabulous, showcasing 100 key looks and 50 original textiles. It’s sure to be bright, bold and beautiful. £9.90; 27 Sept – 26 Jan 2020; 83 Bermondsey Street, SE1

Dispatches from our mission to find London’s best restaurants, bars, food pop-ups and markets
Dispatches from our mission to find London’s best restaurants, bars, food pop-ups and markets

Street food fans rejoice! Kerb has just opened Seven Dials Market – its first permanent, indoor location – in Covent Garden’s historic Thomas Neal Warehouse. (Fact fans: this place used to store cucumbers and bananas.) Inside is some truly exciting stuff, including pasta joint Strozapretti (from the minds behind Franco Manca); the second outpost of Japanese soul food purveyors Nanban; and Pick & Cheese, the world’s first cheese conveyer belt (we might cry). Keep your eyes peepin’ for our reviews in future Stylist Loves Going Out emails.

Want to make plans, like, right now? Tonight, Bao Fitzrovia is hosting the second in its UBartend series, in which acclaimed mixologists from around the world put their own twist on a bun and booze pairing. This time, Hong Kong’s RŌNIN will serve whisky-inspired cocktails paired with a shirako tempura bao. And finally! Get down to Hawker House on Friday and Saturday – Street Feast is hosting the final of the British Street Food Awards. Yum, yum and yum again.

Stylist Live LUXE opens its doors in November and believe us – it’s one hell of a line-up

Hands up who needs something to look forward to between now and *whispers* Christmas? Stylist Live is back, baby, and this time it’s LUXE. The first ever event at Greenwich’s super swish Magazine London, there’ll be three jam-packed days of talks (Elizabeth Day and Sophie Hagen, we see you), incredible catwalks and tons of shoppable moments at the specially curated pop-ups. That’s not to mention the goody bag – worth over £180 and filled with treats. What are you waiting for? £80, 8-10 November
