Dance your blues away
Dancing can cure a week of worries. Grab your mates and get ready to laugh like a loon on tablets at these delightfully silly classes

Strike a pose

Yoga doesn’t have to be solemn and silent. At House of Voga, you can make like an 80s Harlem ballroom dancer (as well as original material girl Madonna) and partake in a fusion of yoga and vogue-inspired dance, to the beat of classic disco and house tunes. Founder Juliet Murrell says “the classes focus on fun and freedom”; we say it’s one of the most fun things you can do in leggings. From £5; venues across the UK

Disco forever

Swap your Saturday night sequins for a sports bra at Disco Barre, which offers intense exercise classes (mostly based on ballet barre techniques) to the sound of your favourite disco tunes. Work up a sweat to Kylie and Patti LaBelle in a Glow-inspired Beach Barre class, or rave your troubles away at Dance Church. Rainbow-bright lycra optional. From £18; The Factory, 21-31 Shacklewell Ln, E8

MTV dream queen

Who wouldn’t want to be able to stun a dancefloor with a perfectly choreographed routine to Thank U Next? (Come on – that would go down a storm at the office Christmas party.) Aim high at AtYourBeat’s all-abilities-welcome VideoBeat classes, where you can learn the moves from music videos by stars including Ariana Grande to Lizzo. From £15; venues in Marylebone, Leicester Square and Elephant & Castle

Sweat while you’re singing

Exercise = endorphins = good vibes post-workout. But not all classes feel good while you’re actually doing them. Popfit’s classes are designed to be tons of fun in the moment: regular sessions include Bounce (done on tiny trampolines!) and retro aerobics. Upcoming dance workshops are inspired by Ru Paul (5 October) and Dirty Dancing (19 October): joyous. Intro class £5; 19 Sidworth St, E8

Spice up your life

If you’re ready to slam your body down and zig-a-zig-ah, head to Drink Shop Do. The north London venue hosts 1.5hr dance classes where you can master the proper moves to everything from the Spice Girls’ Wannabe to the jaw-dropping Jingle Bell Rock routine from Mean Girls. The vibe is wonderfully silly, but make sure to wear trainers (and your Mel C-esque Adidas stripes). £15, 9 Caledonian Rd, N1

This soap makes a difference (and makes you clean)

Beco’s beautifully scented soap is made by their amazing team – 80% of whom are visually impaired, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged. The sale of every Beco product provides jobs to people living with disabilities, but the ethical toiletries brand can’t hire as many people as they’d like. So to free up space within their ranks – and help their current employees’ career progression – Beco is now asking other businesses to #StealOurStaff.

Each organic soap bar or hand wash is labelled with a staff member’s CV, to highlight the employability of people with disabilities. Stock up on something that will make you smile – and if you know of a job opportunity, you know where to go. From £2.09, Waitrose

More lovely stuff you need to know

Every person with breasts should be checking them monthly. But in case you needed a reminder, jewellery brand Wolf & Moon have teamed up with breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! on a playful line of melon-shaped jewellery, which serve as a wearable prompt to do just that. For every piece sold from the collection, £5 goes to CoppaFeel! and towards educating people about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. Pretty, good things. From £24, Wolf and Moon
