The best body-care to pull you through the cold snap
Our skin takes a beating when it’s chilly. Here are the soothing products to stock up on now – then enjoy when the temperature drops to -2°C

The bath soak

Cult brand Sister & Co. recently relaunched with 14 Cosmos-certified natural and organic products, all made from sustainable, natural ingredients. If, like us, you swear by the healing properties of a warm bath during the winter months, you’ll love the Holly Bath Soak: lie back, relax, and let the scents of pepper, cardamom and lemon transport you to far-flung (and warmer) lands. £18, Sister & Co.

The body cleanser

Does your body feel tight and coarse after you shower? Consider swapping your skin-stripping body gel for a more nourishing oil-based wash, like Kiehl’s Crème de Corps Smoothing Oil-To-Foam Body Cleanser. Just a few drops of this sweet-smelling potion will magically multiply into a velvety foam, leaving your skin feeling perfectly clean, soft and moisturised. £30.50, Kiehl’s

The oil

A good body oil will soothe the tricky areas that need a little extra TLC in mid-December (we’re looking at you, scaly elbows and desiccated knees). Ren’s Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil is hydrating and calming – sweep across skin using circular motions after a warm shower or bath to lock in the good stuff. Plus, it smells like an actual rose garden. £35, Ren

The cream

Prefer a rich moisturiser to an oil? Purveyors of seriously chic haircare products Ouai just launched their first Body Crème (£32, Net-a-Porter): the scent is reminiscent of warm citrus and rose fields in the Mediterranean. For a purse-friendly alternative, Superdrug’s Vitamin E All-Over Body Cream is a cult favourite amongst the Stylist team – and gentle enough for all skin types. £3.49, Superdrug

The shower oil

Containing over 50% real almond oil, L’Occitane’s Almond Shower Oil turns into a satiny-soft foam when massaged onto skin. When you step out of the shower, you’ll feel like you’ve already applied body lotion – cutting down the time you have to spend naked on a cold night. The best bit? It fills your bathroom with the scent of fresh almonds. Just divine. £19.50, L’Occitane

Another day, another dry shampoo (it is party season, after all). This week, junior beauty writer Ava has found a natural product that’s perfect for curls

As someone with naturally dry, fine, curly hair, I’m constantly trying to achieve the perfect product trifecta of moisturising, volumising and defining. More often than not, I end up oversaturating my hair with product, which means it’s fed well but weighed down – but this not-your-average dry shampoo fixes that.

Made with corn and tapioca starch and kaolin clay, Neighbourhood Botanicals’ Sunday Morning dry shampoo soaks up excess product and adds some textured oomph to my delicate curls, all without leaving a white cast. Plus the peppermint-citrus scent is clean and uplifiting. Magic. £17, Neighbourhood Botanicals

What happens when an environmentally-friendly nail salon opens an online store? A curated edit of stylish beauty products that don’t cost the earth

While the rise of clean beauty has made us more selective in our self-care routines, decoding small-print labels never gets any simpler. But Still London – the cool, holistic nail studio in Dalston – has just launched a new online wellness store, only stocking thoughtfully chosen products that are completely sustainable, vegan and non-toxic. We have our eye on the brand’s own nourishing hand balm (£23), natural cuticle oil (£18) and Icelandic bath salt set (£29).
