Where do fashion insiders shop the January sales? | Looking to expand your sartorial horizons in 2020? Try these five cult online platforms, as approved by the Stylist fashion team |

| | Need Supply Co One of online shopping’s great joys is that we can now browse cult US shops without hopping on a transatlantic flight. Based in Virginia, clothing and lifestyle store Need Supply Co stocks indie US and international designers – and its current sale features some genuinely grab-your-Monzo-card-now markdowns. Hankering for a Ganni wrap dress (£119, was £396) or a wear-forever black jumpsuit (£101, was £145)? You know where to go.

| | Studio B If your style is sparkly, bright and generally-extremely-fun, Studio B is the place to, er, be. A one-woman operation run by Bethany Rowntree (who cut her teeth at Mulberry, Anya Hindmarch and Matches Fashion), the site offers a tight edit of cheery pieces by modern brands. Head for this starry Stine Goya dress (£95, was £208), a sequinned Rixo skirt (£110, was £235) and a stripy Baum und Pferdgarten jumper (£75, was £175).

| | If I could give you one bit of advice for January sales shopping, it’s this: focus on finding marked-down luxury items that you’ll wear again and again. This year, I’ve got my eye on these By Far sandals. On sale now, I’ll keep them stashed in my wardrobe until the weather warms up – at which point they’ll see me through work, weddings, parties and afternoons in beer gardens.
Crucially, the style won’t date: barely-there sandals with comfy block heels have serious staying power. The light grey mock-croc version will work with everything, but they’re also on sale in shades including scarlet, gold and terracotta. A sound investment, whatever colour you choose. From £91.50 (was £305), Net-a-Porter
