While the popularity of video calls has dominated the headlines, analogue communication has also seen a boom during quarantine, with stationery brand Papier reporting a 300% increase in sales of greeting cards, notecards and letter paper. Given our hopes of being reunited with friends were cruelly dashed this week, there’s no better time to post a small something to your closest crew. Stylist Loves’ deputy editor Moya Crockett just organised this card (from £3.50) from indie design company Poi Co to be sent to a friend: “Since Covid-19 hit, they’ve started offering a free handwriting service, which is brilliantly convenient. Tell them what message you’d like inside and they’ll post the card directly to your loved one.” 

Alternatively, Aisle Studio’s bright, smile-inducing notecards (£10 for 4, Etsy) couldn’t be more fit for purpose, plus 25% of proceeds go to Age UK to support their work tackling loneliness among elderly people. Or try Callie Pettigrew’s excellent music-inspired Postcards From Isolation pack (£7.50 for 5), which features slogans like ‘Gotta get thru this’ and ‘It’s not right, but it’s OK’. We might not be able to hug our friends and family just yet – but at the very least, a card can make us feel closer together.
