Michaela Coel’s new show about consent and dating is vital viewing

I May Destroy You is like nothing I’ve ever seen before,” says Stylist’s entertainment director Helen Bownass. “It’s an explosive, complex and witty look at consent, dating and trauma.” The 12-part drama, which started last night with its second episode airing tonight, is a vehicle for the incredible talents of Michaela Coel, creator of Chewing Gum. She wrote, co-directed and also stars in the gripping series – The New York Times has called her performance “riveting”.

Coel plays Arabella, an internet-famous writer who has just returned to London from a trip to Italy. She’s on deadline, but heads out for a ‘quick’ drink with friends. The next morning, she gets flashes of being assaulted in a toilet. They are visions that keep appearing despite attempts to distract herself, so she reluctantly begins to piece together what happened that night. “This is not a binge-watch,” says Helen. “Episodes are being released twice-weekly at Coel’s behest and it’s all the more powerful for it, allowing you to sit with what you’ve seen and hopefully inspire some important conversations.” I May Destroy You is at 10:45pm Mondays and Tuesdays on BBC One

This cult skincare brand now wants to transform your hair

Known for its effective, affordable skincare, The Inkey List has now ventured into the world of haircare just nine months after its debut. Its new range consists of eight products – all of which can be used alone, and six of which can also be deployed as boosters in your shampoo or conditioner.

“The collection features ingredients you’re probably more used to seeing on the side of skincare bottles, and it’s designed to be mixed and matched – so you can combine products to suit your needs,” says Stylist’s beauty assistant Kiran Meeda, who’s been adding the Chia Seed Curl Defining Treatment (£7.99) to her regular curl cream for hydrated, shinier, more defined curls.

Hair drier and flatter than usual? Kiran recommends blending the Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Treatment (£9.99) with the Peptide Volumizing Treatment (£9.99). Dullness more of an issue? Swap out the hydrating treatment for the Vitamin C Brightening Hair Treatment (£9.99). “There’s room to experiment and play around with combinations that work for you,” says Kiran. And with The Inkey List’s accessible prices, there’s no risk involved in trying something new. Find out more hereFrom £7.99, Cult Beauty
