3 new podcasts to keep your ears happy this October

The problem with great podcasts is that they’re eminently bingeable, leaving us craving something fresh every few weeks. Luckily, we’ve discovered three new series to keep our ears occupied this month. Nostalgia-prone listeners will love Twenty Twenty, in which film critic Simran Hans and music journalist Tara Joshi explore the defining pop culture moments of the year 2000. Kicking off today, it’s funny, informed and insightful: imagine an in-depth chat about Destiny’s Child, the first season of Big Brother and The Sims with your smartest friends and you get the idea (listen via Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Message Heard).

More into gripping longform podcasts like Dirty John or Fake Heiress? Check out Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen, which launched last week. Over 10 episodes, investigative journalists Josh Dean and Vanessa Grigoriadis attempt to track down a woman who impersonated a mysterious film executive, scamming thousands out of actors, make-up artists and personal trainers in the process (listen via Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Stitcher). And for conversations about identity, relationships and careers, check out Little Brown Women: Unplugged, which sees hosts Roxy, Kay and Dhammy discuss everything from religion to the beauty industry from the perspectives of British women of colour (listen via Spotify, Apple Podcasts or YouTube). Consider your audio appetite sated.

The CBD range you need on your radar

Curious about CBD and its skincare benefits? CBD (or cannabidiol) is a compound that occurs naturally in the hemp plant, and has recently made its way into everything from cold-brew coffee to dog treats. It’s also ideal for stressed skin, which is why CBD has become the latest natural ingredient to be championed by ethical skincare specialists The Body Shop. Made up of three must-have products, this new range is perfect for those looking to add CBD to their beauty arsenal.

Skin feeling a little dehydrated? The CBD Restoring Facial Oil boasts a blend of CBD, hemp seed oil and patchouli extract that will help replenish moisture levels and fight dullness. Simply use a few drops morning and night to help soothe stressed skin. If complexions are feeling particularly dry (especially now the weather is getting colder), use the oil alongside the CBD Replenishing Moisture Cream for an extra hit of CBD-fused moisture. And, if you’re looking for a total skin reset, treat your face to a the CBD Soothing Oil-Balm Cleansing Mask. Think clean, nourished skin that’s packed full of 100% natural origin CBD. Stressed-out skin: sorted.

Black women’s voices need to be heard, so we’re launching the Black British Women’s Census

At Stylist, we want to amplify the nuances, beauty and sheer force of Black British womanhood, and spotlight the experiences that have shaped what it means to be part of this community right now. The first step in doing that, of course, is listening to what Black women in the UK have to say.

Stylist has created the Black British Women’s Census, a survey where we invite you to tell us what you’re thinking and feeling; what you’re worried about, excited about and hope for. “There’s something so incredible that unites us as Black women, despite historically being left out of the conversation,” says deputy digital editor Jazmin Kopotsha. “So much of what we share is joyful and affirmative, and some of it incredibly painful to face. But as a community, there’s rich complexity and variation in what we’ve experienced. It’s both exciting and crucial that we give voice to it all.”

Please take our survey, share it among other Black women and help us better platform the issues and stories that are really shaping Black womanhood right now.
