Yes, we all want to dress like the women of Bridgerton right now

Some 63 million households watched Bridgerton over Christmas – so it makes sense that Shonda Rhimes’ latest smash hit is not only influencing who we fancy (we see you, Duke of Hastings) but what we want to wear. Fashion app Liketoknow.it reported an 1,000% increase in searches for corsets after the period drama dropped on Netflix, while eBay UK and Lyst have both seen sharp spikes in users searching for items such as yellow dresses, long gloves and feather headpieces. Perhaps inevitably, the trend has been dubbed “Regencycore”.

Feeling inspired? Yellow was one of the Regency era’s most fashionable colours, and Staud’s jacquard dress (£102) is more than worthy of the Featherington women. Empire line silhouettes, square necklines and puff sleeves are other Bridgerton staples; try a ruched bodysuit (£14.99, New Look) or a Daphne B-style blue puff-sleeve dress (£135, & Other Stories) for a similar vibe.

Of course, no Bridgerton barnet is complete without feathers, jewels and ribbons. We love this flower and feather clip (£22.50, Accessorize), pearl headband (£49, Shrimps) or feather and diamante headpiece (£9.95, Starcrossed Boutique). Stash away for your first big post-coronavirus party – or give your next Zoom meeting a much-needed injection of 19th century glamour.

This new guide to green living will become your go-to sustainability bible

Hands up who’s ever been left baffled by plastic recycling codes, worried about their smartphone’s impact on the planet or wondered if they can eat meat while still being green? Us too. Trying to track down answers online can sometimes feel like diving into a bottomless pit of conflicting, confusing information – which is why we’re such fans of new book Is It Really Green? by Georgina Wilson Powell (DK).

Out today, it’s a reassuringly plain-speaking, non-preachy guide to every environmental conundrum you can think of, covering everything from how to ensure your recycling actually gets recycled to the most eco-friendly ways to dye hair. Not only that, the physical editions of the book were printed in the UK using vegetable-based inks on FSC-certified recycled paper (one fact we learned: you have to read about 25 e-books a year for an e-reader to have less environmental impact than the same number of printed books). Buy a copy, keep it on hand at home and dip into it whenever you need an eco question answered – the planet will thank you. £12.08, Bookshop
