Stuck for lockdown gift ideas? Treat them to a breakfast box

As our local DPD/Hermes/Parcelforce drivers will attest, we’re pretty good at buying ourselves treats to brighten up lockdown. But after almost a year of being (mostly) stuck at home, thinking up inventive gifts for other people can be tricky. The solution? Breakfast boxes, aka deliveries of fresh pastries, bread and more, to ensure their day gets off to the best possible start.

We love the artisan breakfast pack by Breadwinners, a grassroots charity supporting young refugees and asylum seekers, which contains fresh bread, cinnamon buns and single-origin coffee (£18.10; London delivery only). Meanwhile, Haver’s limited-edition breakfast box contains organic small-batch granola, porridge and compôte (£12; UK-wide delivery), Breakfast en Bread delivers brunch-stuffed sourdough loaves (from £14.50; UK-wide delivery), and Green Elephant has just launched a vegan Mother’s Day box featuring pancakes, muesli, chai tea and more (£25; London delivery only).

Shopping for someone with a sweet tooth? New nano-bakery Astrid posts out chic boxes of croissants, brioche and Danish pastries, and will even include a handwritten card (£25; north London delivery only). Or check out Zakiyah’s Patisserie & Bakery: founder Zakiyah Syeda creates weekly rotating boxes of handcrafted pastries including palmiers, buns, tarts and more (from £27; London delivery only). Trust us – they’ll love it.

Everyone’s favourite dress brand now makes sustainable, inclusive activewear

Puff-sleeve blouses. High-waisted, straight-leg denim. Floral midi dresses that could look demure, were it not for the thigh-high slits. If you’ve worn (or wanted to wear) any of the above over the last few years, you have Reformation partly to thank. Founded in 2009, the once-cult brand’s relaxed, vintage-inspired aesthetic – a little bit French, a little bit Californian, and a little bit Swiss milkmaid – has long since gone mainstream.

Now, Reformation is venturing into activewear for the first time. (A savvy move, given that the last year hasn’t given us much opportunity to wear party dresses and cocktail-hour tops.) Its new Ref Active collection dropped yesterday, and features everything from square-neck sports bras (£52) to high-rise leggings (£94) and stretchy spaghetti-strap jumpsuits (£130). Rather than Reformation’s typical ditsy prints, muted block colours reign supreme here: think soft coral, pine green and café au lait beige. Even better? Sizes range from XS to 3X, and the entire collection is made from 100% traceable and recycled fabrics. Your millionth home workout just became more appealing. From £52, Reformation
