| This new Northern Irish thriller is here for all your crime drama needs | Kicking off this Sunday, BBC One’s Bloodlands looks poised to become one of the most talked-about shows of 2021 so far. The latest in a long line of successful crime thrillers from Jed Mercurio (Line Of Duty, Bodyguard), it stars Charlene McKenna and James Nesbitt as a pair of Belfast detectives trying to track down a legendary assassin. It also speaks to the complicated legacy of the Good Friday Agreement, and has been billed as the first ‘Irish noir’ TV drama.
“Bloodlands is one of the best things I’ve watched in a very long time,” says Stylist’s digital editor-at-large Kayleigh Dray. “McKenna and Nesbitt have excellent onscreen chemistry, the mystery at the heart of the show is fiendishly twisted, and Belfast – with its gorgeous scenery and simmering tension – feels almost like a character itself. Fair warning: the first episode ends on the mother of all cliffhangers. And, for the first time in forever, we’re going to have to wait a week between each episode. But that means we have lots of time to get into armchair detective mode…” Starts 21 February, 9pm, BBC One

| Benefit’s new mascara is ideal for those who find lash extensions too much of a faff | It’s been almost three years since Benefit launched a mascara – and as a brand known for its innovation, the latest addition to its bestselling They’re Real! collection is worth getting excited about. Aptly named They’re Real! Magnet Mascara, it’s said to have extreme lengthening abilities thanks to a magnetic mineral-enriched formula and the wand’s magnetically-charged core, which attracts the fibres and helps lift them up and out through the lashes to add up to 40% more length. But is it as good as it sounds?
“I’m such a cynic when it comes to excessive claims, but this mascara genuinely lives up to the hype,” says Stylist’s beauty editor Lucy Partington. “While it did take a few layers to build up, it really fanned out and lengthened my lashes and gave a decent amount of volume. It also lasted really well, there was minimal flaking and it wasn’t a nightmare to remove at the end of the day. Excellent work, Benefit.” £24.50, Lookfantastic
