You’re Going To Love: Interiors With Edge
In the latest of our series spotlighting up-and-coming British brands, allow us to introduce you to a chic new home boutique

What is it? Launched late last month, Interiors With Edge is an online homewares shop with a defiantly sharp, modern aesthetic.

Who’s behind it? MJ Harley, 36, a marketing manager from Bristol. She launched the site with her partner Paul Kelly, after finding it difficult to track down beautiful yet affordable decor that reflected the couple’s passion for art and design. “Whenever we sourced an item that we liked it was always costly,” Harley tells Stylist Loves. “The price was understandable because of the level of detail associated with great design, but we thought there must be a happy medium.”

Why you’ll love it: If you find cottagecore too twee but aren’t interested in creating a beige, personality-free home, Interiors With Edge is for you. The vibe is grown-up, confident and intelligent, with a mostly monochrome palette energised by luxurious textures and splashes of rich colour. Highlights include sculptural ceramic vases (£26.99 each), gold-handled bone china teacups (£24.99 each) and wall prints by artists including Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian and David Hockney (from £4.99). “Great decor has a therapeutic effect on the human soul and can reopen our eyes to the overlooked beauty of the world,” says Harley. That’s a philosophy we can get behind. interiorswithedge.com

This powerful new documentary reveals the chilling reality of ‘conversion therapy’

When Julie Rodgers came out to her fundamentalist Christian mother at 16, her Texan family could see only one option available. They pushed Rodgers into undergoing nine toxic years of ‘conversion therapy’ with Exodus International, a US organisation founded in the 1970s on the principle that it’s possible – and desirable – to change a person’s sexuality. Propped up by bogus psychologists, Exodus ran ministries dedicated to the ‘ex-gay movement’ until 2013. Now, Rodgers and other conversion therapy survivors are sharing their stories in Pray Away, a new Netflix documentary executive produced by Ryan Murphy.

“Director Kristine Stolakis explores the catastrophic impact of conversion therapy, something 700,000 people in the US have gone through, with necessary urgency,” says Stylist Loves contributor Holly Bullock. “We meet Jeffrey McCall, a self-identified ‘de-transitioner’ organising an anti-LGBTQ+ rally, and hear from former Exodus members who are coming to terms with how their actions harmed their communities. While Rodgers is now free from the struggles of ‘conversion’ – her wedding to partner Angela appears in the documentary’s moving final minutes – we are made distinctly aware that for other LGBTQ+ people, this damaging ideology remains a critical threat.” Given that our government has been accused of “dragging its feet” over banning conversion therapy in the UK, Pray Away is essential viewing.
