Master the art of bathscaping, Instagram’s latest interiors trend

You’ve heard of tablescaping: opulently setting your table to look straight out of a Michelin-starred restaurant. But how about giving your tub the same treatment? The new bathscaping trend is all about transforming your bathroom into a calming, steamy oasis with the help of carefully placed candles, fluffy textiles and ambrosial aromatic oils.

“During lockdown, baths became a big part of my self-care routine,” says Estée Lalonde, founder of lifestyle platform Mirror Water, who has gained tens of thousands of likes on Instagram for pictures of her perfectly curated washroom. “I like to draw attention to my bath to emphasise the meaning and ritual of the act of bathing.” Here, Estée shares her tips for nailing the bathscaping trend – trust us, you’ll end up soaking in the tub for hours.

On the brink of workplace burnout? Swerve it using the ‘Three R’ approach

Burnout is on the rise. Defined as “chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed,” it was recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a phenomenon in 2019. During the pandemic, the blurring of work/life boundaries has made burnout even more ubiquitous: a recent survey from Mental Health UK found 46% of UK workers feel “more prone to extreme levels of stress” compared to a year ago.

One technique recommended by psychologists to manage and prevent burnout is the ‘Three R’ approach. “[It] helps you deal with stress responses as they arrive,” explains Dr Audrey Tang, a psychologist and mental health expert. The three Rs are ‘recognise’, ‘reverse’ and ‘resilience’, each of which can help you deal with different stages of stress. Here, Dr Tang breaks down the method and explains how to use it.
