Do you still have people in your life from before you were famous?

My best friend Holly [from school] is my ride or die. One of my favourite things about her is that she loves my music and supports me, but she’s not arsed in the slightest about the industry. She’ll come in and sit on the sofa and we’ll talk about our day. I’ll say, “I went to this premiere and this person was there.” Or, “I did a show at The O2”, and she’s like, “Oh right!”

You live with Jordan and Holly. My friends and I are forever talking about our dream of living in a commune together, so that sounds like the dream…

Yes. I was already living with Holly when I met Jordan and I know we’ll have to part ways eventually, but I just love her being there. I need that person that’s known you since you were a kid, they know how to talk to you. I love that communal vibe. For so long I was lonely in London, but growing up all the neighbours in my little cul-de-sac knew each other. I’m trying to recreate that.

What do you think Jordan’s biggest impact on you has been?

I’ve always been terrified of confrontation or doing something wrong and I shrink quite easily, but he’s the complete opposite, he loves a debate. He’s so articulate, and he’s really brought that out of me and helped me come out of my shell. Jordan has ADHD and it’s been really interesting for me to learn how to be the right partner for someone with ADHD. And that does mean communication might be different at times. I think it’s bettered me in a lot of ways.

How do you entertain yourself when you’re Jade (not in capital letters)? Are you a podcast girl? Or into shows like The Traitors?

I don’t know if anyone else feels like this with podcasts but I struggle to listen to someone talk for that long. My boyfriend’s obsessed and will want to listen to them on a long car journey. But after a few minutes I get distracted and struggle to focus. I love documentaries. And horror films. They’re so visual and I get that thrill watching them, but I know I’m safe!
