Finally, the thing we loved most about Reef Builders was that it inspired us to find out more about ocean conservation, and how to support the communities involved.

Hawaiian actress Auli’i Cravalho (who’s involved with the documentary) stated:

“As a Hawaiian person, I care very deeply about the oceans, and coral is a foundational species.

“I wanted to give back to my own island community, and being part of this restoration programme has allowed me to partner with the scientists, local fishermen and divers of Hawaii – to help implement this man-made solution to a man-made problem.”

While we appreciate that we can’t all move to a coral reef and physically help out (although volunteering for a local beach clean isn’t a bad thing), watching a documentary like Reef Builders only helps to raise awareness about a problem that will ultimately affect all of us on a global scale.

No one wants to see the coral reefs disappear and this documentary provides important commentary on why that doesn’t have to happen if we have the means to set things right.
