Now, she’s at the helm of Apple TV+’s adaptation of Bonnie Garmus’s bestselling 2022 novel, Lessons in Chemistry. After the Sag-Aaftra strike ended on 9 November, Larson spoke about the eight-part period drama, in which she played the lead role of Elizabeth Zott and served as an executive producer.

The series follows the passionate scientist as she navigates a male-dominated profession that perpetuates the sexist ethos that women should hold domestic or secretarial roles – anything to stay out of labs and PhD scholarships. After a turbulent time at the Hastings Institute as a lab technician, Elizabeth fronts a TV cooking show and inspires a nation of housewives to respect the skill and importance that goes into their job as a parent.
