The rumour mill has been swirling for months that Gavin & Stacey might be returning to our screens for another epic Christmas special. And now, finally, we have confirmation that it’s really happening, five years after our last trip to Barry Island.

In a post on Instagram the show’s creators and stars, James Corden and Ruth Jones, aka Smithy and Nessa, confirmed they’ve finished writing the very special, special.

“Some news… It’s official!!! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James ❤️”
