While it’s certainly no confirmation that season two is going ahead, it’s reassuring to hear that there’s still some interest in a new instalment of the show – even if Winslet isn’t so sure.

This hesitancy over whether Winslet and the Mare Of Easttown team would be able to top the first season is something that’s run through all the conversations about a potential second season.

Previously, Mare Of Easttown’s creator and writer Brad Ingelsby said there wouldn’t be another season unless he and Winslet “could crack a story that we were really proud of and felt like it was a deserving second chapter in Mare’s journey,” adding that he hadn’t “cracked that yet”.

In a later interview with Entertainment Weekly, Winslet revealed that Ingelsby may actually have some workable season two ideas in the pipeline – but said she and the team remained unsure about whether or not to keep going.
