Move over summer - autumn is colour, and here’s how to embrace it…
Melting orange sunsets, ruby-red and golden brown leaves, yellow foliage and the emerald of the evergreens…
Even if your usual uniform is black, black and more black, there’s something about the autumnal months that make us all want to dress a little bolder – if not just to counteract the grey skies.
From fun accessories to taking the plunge with bold statement hair (hello, Schwarzkopf LIVE range), here’s how you can confidently embrace the season’s colours…
1. Start at the bottom
If you’re a little wary of where to begin, the simplest thing to do is swap your standard white kicks or tan Chelsea boots for something a little brighter.
A colourful pair of shoes can help.
Plus, if you’re really out of your comfort zone, you can keep the rest of your outfit muted. Although once the compliments on your shoes start rolling in, you’ll probably start feeling good about being bolder.
2. Switch up your shade
With a host of social events to hit up (the last of the festivals, cocktail parties etc), there’s no better time than autumn to try out a new hair colour for size when most people think about reverting to darker hues.
Whatever shade you go for, nothing makes adding a pop of colour to every outfit easier than your crowning glory, and Schwarzkopf allows you to colour with confidence.
3. Experiment with jewellery
Not sure what’s ‘your’ colour yet?
Jewellery, especially earrings, necklaces and anything else worn close to the face, can help you discover it.
Maybe there’s a stone that makes your eyes sparkle, or a shade that complements you complexion.
Play around with some costume-style jewellery and find your colour in no time.
4. Go for a pop
The easiest way to add some colour to your outfit is to go for a sprinkle, rather than a shower.
Try adding a pop of colour, with a bright handbag or a bold scarf, which will immediately give a bright twist to any look.
Bonus points for matching your mani-pedi to it, too.
5. Check your lighting
The light indoors in our homes isn’t always the most natural.
It can either be a little too harsh or too dingy to get a good idea of whether a new shade suits you. So, do yourself a favour and check your look in natural light, too.
Simply stepping outside for a few moments might make you realise a colour you’d originally written off is your friend after all.
