From the morning commute to stopping for a caffeine fix and some people watching over lunch, Stylist content solutions writer and blogger, Anna Whitehouse takes us through her day. Joining the #coachpups campaign - it launched with Lady Gaga’s faithful pooch - she goes from morning to night with McNulty the King Charles spaniel and her chic Coach bag.
I tend to be an early riser – I like to have time to eat breakfast without rushing and catch up on my morning emails in relative peace, so it’s usually a 6.45am start. That said I’m always running out the door at about 8.30am and chucking things in my Coach bag last minute. From copies of Stylist magazine for meetings to trainers for when heels drag me down, it’s a veritable cavern in there.
My morning is usually spent writing copy for Stylist, heading in-and-out of meetings with the team and catching up on any important emails. I’m usually desperate for a caffeine fix, so McNulty and I head to Fork, our favourite café near Bloomsbury Square. It’s a perfect spot for people watching with the best coffee in town.
Walk the walk
While I get the Tube to work, I always get off a stop early to get a breath of fresh air before starting the working day. I love Bloomsbury Square for that moment of peace and quiet before the calls and meetings take over. When it’s sunny, McNulty and I will sit on a bench for a minute or two and just take in the sights. It’s really easy to take London’s architecture for granted but I love to have a moment to take it all in – those moments are rare, though.
I grew up in the country, so am always on the hunt for green spaces on my lunch break. I hate being glued to my phone all the time, so try to use my notepad as often as possible to give my eyes a break. Whether long lists of things to do or inspiration for work, I love finding a park bench and having a moment to scribble random thoughts down.
When I’m out and about in afternoon meetings, I’ll often have to stop and check what’s going on in the office. It doesn’t matter where I am, I’ll just have to park up anywhere and everywhere. I often find myself sitting on random steps around London – smartphone in hand. Here we’re outside the Brunswick Centre but occasionally it’s someone’s house or even the nearby British Museum.
As a blogger, I’m always on the hunt for strong backgrounds for photos. McNulty is less keen on this side of my life, but I love bold colours and the cobalt blue of this door in Bloomsbury contrasts perfectly with the tan hue of my Coach bag. I love clashing prints and colours that come together in one image – even McNulty matches this look.
Out and about
Once work is finished, I’ll usually head out the meet friends in Soho. My outfits tend to be versatile so I can head from the office to dinner without having to change. I love matching my Coach bag with a leather biker jacket for a look that works for meetings in Shoreditch or cocktails on Wardour Street.
On the road
I have a bike that I usually keep at work or home, depending on where my day leads. My Coach bag fits everything from daily essentials, including phone and make-up to heels and trainers in case I feel like cycling to meetings or heading home. I love that my Coach bag fits everything I need, while adding polish to any look – essentially, it’s all in the bag.
