Barbour x ALEXACHUNG has launched, and just in time to sort out your festival wardrobe.

Alexa Chung and classic British festival dressing go hand in hand. Like a duck to water, Chung has been setting the style stakes in what to wear to Glastonbury and beyond for the past decade. Your forever appetite for denim cut offs and Hunter wellies? Blame Chung. Vinyl trousers and Dr. Martens? That one is Chung too. The finishing touch to the looks? Naturally, a Barbour jacket - whatever the look, the waxy classic has always been Chung’s go-to.

“Some of my happiest memories have unfolded in a Barbour’” she’s said. “The smell of the wax alone makes me feel like I’m home. For me Barbour has been part of my childhood, my coming of age and I am extraordinarily proud that it is now part of my future.”

A natural fit then for what looks set to be the coolest (and most practical) collaboration of the summer: Barbour by ALEXACHUNG. The collection is made up of seven pieces of outerwear, three tote bags and the Nineties smash hit that’s been reimagined as the accessory du jour: the bucket hat. And the good news is that this isn’t the last of it – Barbour by ALEXACHUNG will span two years and four collections in total.

To create something truly special, Chung dug into the archives of the brand to conjure up a Brit grunge feel that delightfully riffs of Glastonbury’s hallowed guests.

When it comes to the design and the styling Chung has added in her own nuances to new collection: “I often turn up the sleeves of my Barbour because I tend to like the sleeves a bit shorter in the arm so you can show of the lining. You look at any image of me in Barbour from yesteryear, you will see that I often turn up the sleeves of the jackets.

“One thing we have introduced in some of the styles are the clothing labels on the exterior yoke of the outerwear. The unique logo for the collaboration was taken from the archive, and re-imagined in some cases with a natural, ochre background colour.”

With Stormzy, Kylie and Janet Jackson gearing up for their big moment, one this is for sure: we can expect to see the shorter, sharper, bigger branded pieces on Chung’s usual crew during the last weekend in June.
