If you watched The September Issue, the documentary on US Vogue, then you know that Anna Wintour is not one to giggle. Even writing that word in the same sentence makes us feel a bit uneasy.
It's not that the Vogue editor isn't spectacularly brilliant it's just that she's hardly associated with being pant-wettingly funny. She's not even associated with eliciting a small guffaw.
That was, until today. In a sketch for the Late Show with host Seth Meyers, the fashion icon pokes fun by playing, erm, herself.
In the skit, Seth reveals that Anna has been behind every great moment in comedy ("she told Jerry Seinfeld 'the show should be about nothing'"), and that she's also a producer of his show, overseeing all the jokes.
To start, Seth is nervously waiting to speak to her outside her office. When he does finally get in there (she shoos him away the first time), she critiques him but he doesn't take it well.
Later on, as he's doing a run-through of the show, she sits there in her trademark sunglasses as Seth shouts at her for wearing them inside.
At the end of the day, Anna and Seth have a final meeting and Seth emerges feeling happy that she finally liked his sketch. He then cries and she tells him off ("stop crying, you're a grown man").
Who knew Nuclear Wintour could be so funny?
