For the first time since Mattel introduced Barbie to the world in 1959, will she have a new body - one that is no longer of unrealistic proportions.
Today, the brand launched three new range of dolls - tall, curvy and petite - to offer customers something other than their original thin-waisted and busty figurine.
Barbie has long been criticised for reinforcing unattainable standards of beauty and it seems Mattel is now calling an end to the one-type-fits all doll.
There are in total 33 new dolls in the new range titled "Fashionistas" which also offers a variety of skin tones, hair textures and outfits.
If you're keen to know the details, that's seven skin tones, 22 eye colours and 24 hairstyles.
“Barbie has always given girls choices – from her 180 careers, to inspirational roles, to her countless fashions and accessories,” says Evelyn Mazzocco, Senior Vice President and Global General Manager of Barbie.
“We are excited to literally be changing the face of the brand – these new dolls represent a line that is more reflective of the world girls see around them – the variety in body type, skin tones and style allows girls to find a doll that speaks to them.
“We believe we have a responsibility to girls and parents to reflect a broader view of beauty,” Mazzocco added.
The collection goes on sale in Spring this year at major toy retailers worldwide and the dolls can be viewed on Barbie.com now.
The iconic doll made the cover of this week's Time magazine with the tagline, "Now can we stop talking about my body?"
The report stated that "Barbie sales plummeted 20% from 2012 to 2014 and continued to fall last year" and the company hopes the new dolls will make amends.
