Almost two months after Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter married in secret, the star's wedding dress has been revealed.
A photograph posted on the Valentino Instagram page today shows the theatre director, 37, posing in her stunning bridal gown.
The long-sleeved, high neck dress appears to be an off-white grey in colour and is covered a large floral and vine embroidery. It was custom made by Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
"It feels very much of nature, and it's so detailed and extraordinary that I'm still trying to get my head around how beautiful it is," said Hunter about the unconventional dress, who is currently pregnant with the couple's first child. Meanwhile, the designers described it as a "high-waisted medieval gown with high neck and long sleeves".
The image of Hunter's dress was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue magazine and is one of the first official images to appear from the couple's wedding, which took place on Valentine's Day this year.
It was a private ceremony at the 12th century St Peter & St Paul Church, near Brighstone on the Isle of Wight.
Benedict Cumberbatch, formerly known as one of the UK's most eligible bachelors, told the BBC that "it was a magical day” and guests included Tom Hiddleston and Martin Freeman, who was best man.
Speaking to People magazine in November 2014, Benedict opened up about his fiancée, gushing “she's proud of my work, she's proud of me, and she loves me. That’s the bottom line, isn't it? That's one of the reasons it's a good fit. It could be a really difficult thing, but she's just so in command of it.”
The couple announced that they were to be married by announced their engagement in the Times last November. They were first spotted together at Wimbledon last year but have known each other for years.
