British Fashion Awards 2013: The Nominees

Cara Delevigne, Edie Campbell and Sam Rollinson will go head to head for the Model of the Year award, while Christopher Kane, Phoebe Philo (Céline) and Sarah Burton (Alexander McQueen) will fight it out for the Designer of the Year award at the upcoming 2013 British Fashion Awards.

There’s no denying that 2013 has been an epic year for British fashion. Formerly the underdogs of the glossy fashion world, in 2013 British designers, models and retailers have been recognised for truly setting the global fashion agenda. How so? Well, for a start Brit girls opened the biggest shows on the fashion calendar last month as the eyes of the global fashion world looked on, while not one, not two but three of Stylist’s favourite emerging British labels achieved major conglomerate investment in an epic new chapter in the evolution of their businesses.
Voted for by a whopping 300 fashion insiders, including our very own Fashion Director Alexandra Fullerton, this year’s awards are set to be the most exciting to date. With a new venue (the London Coliseum), two new awards (International Designer of the Year and Best Creative Campaign Award) and three designers vying for the prestigious ‘British Designer of the Year’, the 2013 British Fashion Awards nominees are:
EMERGING TALENT AWARD - WOMENSWEAR
An innovative and directional designer who is emerging as an influential force in British womenswear.
Nominees: Marques’Almeida, Simone Rocha, Thomas Tait
EMERGING TALENT AWARD - MENSWEAR
An innovative and directional designer who is emerging as an influential force in British menswear.
Nominees: Agi & Sam, Christopher Shannon, Craig Green
EMERGING TALENT AWARD - ACCESSORIES
An innovative and directional designer who is emerging as an influential force in British accessory design.
Nominees: Dominic Jones, Mr Hare, Sophia Webster
ACCESSORY DESIGNER OF THE YEAR
A leading British designer of shoes, jewellery, millinery or other accessories within the past year.
Nominees: Anya Hindmarch, Charlotte Olympia, Nicholas Kirkwood
RED CARPET AWARD
Gives recognition to a British designer who is creating global awareness of their designs in the media.
Nominees: Antonio Berardi, Erdem, Victoria Beckham
MODEL OF THE YEAR AWARD
A British model who has contributed most to the international fashion scene in the past year.
Nominees: Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell, Sam Rollinson
BRAND OF THE YEAR
A leading British based designer brand that has excelled and made an impact on the international stage over the past year with multiple stores, integrated manufacturing, dynamic campaigns and an e-commerce platform.
Nominees: Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Victoria Beckham
INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER OF THE YEAR
Recognising a non-British internationally acclaimed, leading designer who has directed the shape of fashion in the past year both in the UK and internationally.
Nominees: Marc Jacobs, Miuccia Prada (Prada), Raf Simons (Dior)
NEW ESTABLISHMENT AWARD
The New Establishment Award recognises a British womenswear, menswear or accessory designer that is taking the industry by storm.
Nominees: J.W. Anderson, Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto
MENSWEAR DESIGNER OF THE YEAR
A leading British designer of ready-to-wear or bespoke tailoring who has been instrumental in enhancing men's fashion in the past year.
Nominees: Christopher Bailey (Burberry), Kim Jones (Louis Vuitton), Tom Ford
WOMENSWEAR DESIGNER OF THE YEAR
A leading British designer of ready-to-wear who has been instrumental in enhancing women's fashion in the past year.
Nominees: Christopher Kane, Phoebe Philo (Céline), Sarah Burton (Alexander McQueen)
In addition, the British Fashion Awards will celebrate the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, which recognises a British stylist, make-up artist, photographer, art director or producer whose creativity has been a major inspiration and influence in the past year; the BFC Outstanding Achievement Award, which recognises someone whose work has had an exceptional impact on global fashion; and the Best Creative Campaign Award which recognises the creativity behind the most innovative and dynamic piece of advertising in the past year.
This year’s awards will also recognise today’s most influential British style icon, as voted for by the public through the British Style Award.
