Broadcaster Clara Amfro wants us all to know how serious she is about shoes – specifically trainers.
And there are plenty to pick from which is why Radio 1 presenter and resident cool girl Clara Amfo came into the Stylist office to showcase her personal trainer collection. And, oh boy, was it as good as we’d expected. From classic Air Max trainers to limited edition Vans, Amfo’s wardrobe is brimming with the trainers we’d all love to walk in. And she knows how to transition a pair with ease for a night on the town, too. Because what’s more day-to-night than a pair of frosted crystal trainers?
Check out Amfo’s personal trainer collection below:
5) Air Max 1 – in liquid gold
“Everyone who knows me knows that I am a gold girl when it comes to jewellery – I’ve never really been into silver,” says Amfo. “And that’s reflected in this shoe choice. It’s a classic Air Max 1 in liquid gold. What you see, is what you get.”

4) Nike Air Max 97 LX Swarovski Silver Bullet
“I thoroughly enjoy these because they’re kind of ridiculous,” says Amfo. “I like to wear these if I need a day-to-night look. And what is more day-to-night than a pair of Swarovski encrusted trainers?”

3) Nike Air Max 1
“It’s just the classic design, isn’t it? I think this was actually the first ever Air Max. The colourway’s classic with Varsity Red. I like these so much that I actually have three pairs because they’re on heavy rotation,” says Amfo.
“I feel like they’re the Birkin bag of trainers. They’re classic, will never go out of style and go with everything.”

2) Vans Sk8-His
“They are limited edition pair, in collaboration with the iconic group, A Tribe Called Quest,” says Amfo. “This pair has song lyrics of one of their most well-known songs, Bonita Applebum. They’re nice and sturdy and good with a jean and a chunky knit.”

1) Air Max 98s
“I love them just because of the pattern,” says Amfo. “I think they’re really cool and monochrome goes with everything. They also remind me of my older brothers. I’m pretty sure one of them had a pair and I wasn’t allowed the same because I was a little kid. These are special trainers – I like them a lot.”
