It’s outrageously sunny. You’re wearing jeans because you’re British and you didn’t expect sunshine (you never expect sunshine, you’re just ridiculously grateful if your day is ever blessed with its presence). What to do? Labour on in your heavyweight denim leg prison like a sweating fool?
Imagine a world, a brave new world of fashion in which you can simply transform your jeans into shorts and go on with your day.
This world is here, friends.
Y/Project, a label known for playing with traditional denim designs, has released a pair of jeans officially titled Detachable Cut-Out Front Jeans, featuring a pair of knicker shorts with detachable legs.
A straight-leg, high-waisted style, when the shorts and the legs are worn together the cut-out detail is clearly visible around the thigh front and back.
The Y/Project Instagram account shows the style comes in a darker wash and in white, while Opening Ceremony also carries a black version.
Retailing at £346.54, they’re not a cheap summer option, but if you fancy them you better be quick: at time of writing the pale blue wash has sold out on the Opening Ceremony website, though the black design is still available for £375.19.
