There’s no point denying it; getting hitched can wreak serious havoc on your bank account. With couples expected to pay out for everything, from the venue to the booze, the average wedding can cost up to an eye-watering £25,000 – which is why so many brides are searching for ways to cut costs. So it should come as no surprise to learn that high street alternatives to designer bridal gowns are becoming increasingly popular.

From Topshop to ASOS, plenty of high street stores have already launched their own affordable (yet stylish) wedding collections.

And now Dorothy Perkins have jumped on the matrimonial bandwagon.

The ten-piece capsule collection will be available in sizes 8 to 18, with options for those in need of a petite, tall, curve, or maternity number, too.

Better still, the dresses will cost from as little as £85.

It is also worth noting that the most expensive wedding dress in the collection will cost just £175 – which is, undeniably, a lot cheaper than your average bridal gown.

From modern mid-length frocks, to strapless tulle ballgowns, to lacy fishtails, to Grecian drapes, the first images of the new range reveal that Dorothy Perkins have done their best to cater to all tastes.

You can even opt between sleeves, straps, and strapless, depending on your heart’s whim.

As savvy brides on a budget will no doubt already know, Dorothy Perkins already sell bridesmaid dresses – and they will soon stock wedding accessories and shoes as well, making it the ideal place to kit out your entire wedding party.

Bridal fashion has never been so affordable.

The collection will go on sale in April (you can register your interest here).
