The star-studded crowd at a New York Fashion Week event annoyed Lady Gaga so much during her jazz gig performance she broke off to tell them "Will you (expletive) shut up?"

The incident happened at the Harper's Bazaar party in the Plaza Hotel last night, the Associated Press reported.

The 28-year-old pop star was in the middle of the second song of her jazz set when she was so upset by the noisy crowd she stopped singing.

"Will you (expletive) shut up? We're playing some jazz," she said, before adding: "Goddamn rich people."

Lady Gaga said her sister had designed her dress for the event, above

Gaga's friend Donatella Versace and her daughter Allegra were at the event, along with Brooke Shields, Naomi Campbell and Alexa Chung.

Performing from her upcoming Cheek to Cheek, which she worked on with Tony Bennett called "Cheek to Cheek," she dedicated a cover of Cole Porter's "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye" to her family and boyfriend, actor Taylor Kinney.

"So, if you all keep it down while I sing my boyfriend a song, I'd appreciate it," she told the audience.

Earlier on the red carpet, she told reporters: "An icon, I believe, is somebody that has a strong message behind their beauty and I think all of the women that are here tonight have that," Gaga said on the red carpet. "I'm not sure that I have it, but I am pretty happy to be on the list with all these super models, so thank you."
