'Goldilocks' foundation and a supermodel spray tan - the beauty product launches you need to know about

As well as mastering beautiful catwalk looks, backstage at Fashion Week is where make-up pros road-test new beauty products set to hit shelves - and our make-up bags - in the coming months. 

This season, there was plenty to get excited about. From Pat McGrath’s product debut to the Nars inbetweener set to revolutionise your make-up base, here's a sneak peek at the most exciting beauty launches to pencil into your diary.

  • NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tints

    As seen at: Thakoon and Rodarte

    What is it: The newest foundation formula from NARS gives skin a soft focus, blurred finish while offering a light sheen.

    Who needs it? Foundation too heavy? Tinted moisturiser too light? Say hello to Goldilocks coverage - the coveted middle ground that comes in 12 shades. I predict a sell-out.

    Launching: February 2016

  • Redken Glow Dry

    As seen at: Victoria Beckham, Balenciaga, Valentino

    What is it: A heat-responsive hair oil for dull, dry and damaged hair to spray on before blow-drying and straightening.

    Who needs it? Slaves to heat styling. It's a silky, fragrant but light oil that replenishes moisture-zapped hair and reduces drying time.

    Launching: No long wait to get your hands on this one, it has just launched in salons.

  • St Tropez Luxe Oil Spray Tan

    As seen at: Sophia Webster 

    What is it: The in-salon spray tan equivalent of the brand’s Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil.

    Who needs it? Anyone who wants a deep, rich tan with a glistening finish (just check out that shimmering tibia) without the at-home fuss. 

    Launching: February 2016

  • Pat McGrath Gold 001

    As seen at: Prada

    What is it: A densely pigmented, true gold powder eyeshadow that Instagram has gone crazy for (just search #gold001).

    Who needs it? The bold, the brave and the bang on trend. Created by world renowned make-up artist Pat McGrath.

  • James Read Tantour Sculpting Duo

    As seen at: Holly Fulton

    What is it: A two-tone face and body contouring palette containing a light-reflecting highlighter and mineral bronzer that develops over four hours to leave a sculpted yet realistic finish.

    Who needs it? Anyone who has brushed on bronzer for a hint of a glow, only to have to reach straight for a tissue to scrub off an unnatural tangerine stripe.

    Launching: March 2016

  • Sunday Riley Pro

    As seen at: Victoria Beckham, Missoni and Stella McCartney

    What is it: Cleansing water, flower acid toner and luminous gel mist.

    Who needs it? The kit is specifically designed for those with sensitive skin. My personal favourite is the gel mist that layers skin in a veil of dewiness.

    Launching: TBC. Currently reserved for backstage use, but there’s talk of a retail launch next year. Watch this space. 

  • New Mac Strobe Cream shades

    As seen at: Chloe, Carolina Herrera and Zac Posen

    What is it: A shade extension of the brand’s iconic Strobe Cream in Red, Peach and Silver.

    Who needs it? A moisturiser with iridescent particles, the product is a favourite for boosting dull-looking skin. Pro make-up artists put the new tints through their paces backstage as Mac decides which to launch - the peach is likely to be a crowd-pleaser.

  • Burberry Spring/Summer 2016 Runway Palette

    As seen at: Burberry

    What is it: An ultra-fine pressed powder that promises a luminous 'no powder' finish.

    Who needs it? Fashion fans who want a bright, soft setting to their final look. It's a slick, sturdy compact that features an intricate lace-pattern design almost too beautiful to ruin with a brush swirl.

    Launching: February 2016
