If Kanye West does end up running for President, he's unlikely to have designer Anne Bowen's vote.
She has hit out at the rapper-come-fashion designer for “stealing” her show slot at New York Fashion Week.
West waited until this week to reveal that he will present his latest collection with Adidas at 12pm on Wednesday - the time Bowen was scheduled to show her Nomad VII line, which like West's, is a streetwear collection.
Bowen said that for her show “to have any significance” she has had to push it back a day, a move she described as “a logistical nightmare”.
“Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this,” Bowen told Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s like we are David and he is Goliath.”
“We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this,” Bowen said. “We have been prepping for a year for this at considerable financial, labour - and commitment-cost to our company.”
“Our show date has been scheduled for months and has been on the Fashion Calendar for weeks ... and just yesterday we learned that Kanye West is having a show at the same time on the same date as ours.”
Bowen has made an official complaint to the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) over West's late-in-the-day announcement.
Designer Naeem Khan is also due to show her eveningwear collection at noon on Wednesday but has yet to comment on the clash with Kanye's surprise show.
