Lady Gaga, Kristen Stewart and Gigi Hadid are among the beauty icons given an "ugly" makeover for the new issue of Carine Roitfeld's highly-anticipated CR Fashion Book.

In a series of stunning teaser images released by the fashion bible, the stars are posing for a spread called "jolie laide" - meaning "pretty ugly" - that editor Roitfeld says is about "celebrating individual character over pure good looks".

It sees Gaga, 28, in a short, sleek black wig and abstract black eyeliner, looking down towards the camera, while 19-year-old Hadid appears make-up free in the black and white shots.
