In Lyst’s 2023 trend report, Crocs joined products by Prada, Bottega Veneta and Loewe in the top 10 most coveted products of the season. The Hadid sisters, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande have all been seen in bright Crocs, and the company’s business is constantly growing: earlier this month the brand announced its annual sales were up 13%.

They were the shoe of lockdown. From Crocs to Birkenstock Boston’s and UGG Tasmin slippers, flat, backless clogs were enjoyed by the masses as a slipper-outdoor shoe hybrid, and have continued to enjoy growing success.

Libby Page, market director at Net-a-Porter, says: “The resurgence of flat shoes is a testament to the casualisation of fashion we have seen over the past year, where consumers have sought out special pieces that are both chic and comfortable.”
