From Argyle sweaters to knitted skirts and dog coats, this collab has our autumn wardrobe covered.
Every year, high street giant H&M pulls off a stellar collaboration; previous partnerships have included H&M x Versace, H&M x Balmain, and H&M x Erdem. This autumn is no exception; for H&M has partnered with heritage British brand Pringle of Scotland, to bring our cold weather wardrobes an array of woollen-related joy.
Unveiled this week, the collection has got everyday dressing down. Don’t get us wrong, we loved the lacy embroidered dresses from Erdem, and the leathery mini skirts from Balmain — but far from being suitable for a glitzy party only, the Pringle of Scotland collection is a down-to-earth offering that can be seamlessly integrated into our normal working wardrobes.
H&M x Pringle of Scotland has everyday eventualities covered. Want a cosy hoodie for a flight? Get it in wool with a logotastic ‘Pringle’ font emblazoned down each sleeve. Need a throw-on garment to take you from barre class to brunch? Look no further than the knitted midi-length dresses, with a directional turtleneck zip detail and a slashed thigh that is ideal for throwing on top of your gym leggings, but still looks like you’ve made an effort. Want something for a cosy Sunday at the pub? The knitted trousers and sweater combos are just the ticket.
And perhaps unsurprisingly, Argyle is back in a big way here - it’s long been a catwalk staple at brands such as Miu Miu, with JW Anderson and Ami also offering versions for autumn/winter 2019. The classic knitted triangular pattern, found here in muted greys and beiges, makes a nice change from a plain jumper without being OTT on the fun factor.
We also love that H&M have partnered with a heritage British brand; founded in 1815, Pringle of Scotland is one of the oldest fashion houses still running today. It has a Royal Warrant, (a prestigious award given after a royal has worn the brand for a minimum of five years), and its knits have been worn by everyone from Grace Kelly to Brigitte Bardot. Today, the brand produces everything in the Scottish borders — this H&M collection is a little sartorial slice of British history.
