“It is so important to rewear our clothes. It means we’re keeping our items in circulation and wearing more of what we’ve already got,” says Jen Graham (@charityshopgirlcsg), a secondhand fashion stylist. “There are enough clothes out there for us to never wear the same outfit again without having to keep producing new items.”

For Graham, this can be done in many ways, including simply restyling how you’d wear pieces in your wardrobe. “It could be something as simple as wearing it on top of or under something different to dress up or dress down an item. A lot of people don’t like wearing an item more than once, but with small changes, you can make an item feel like a brand-new piece,” she shares, Or you can upcycle a piece to make it look entirely new. “You can adjust an item to have a new purpose, like turning jeans into shorts or changing the buttons,” Graham says, adding that moodboards are a great place to find inspiration.

“Try counting the number of times you wear each item in your wardrobe,” advises slow fashion journalist Hannah Rochell. “A lot of people are doing this for the year in 2024, but I found just a couple of months was really helpful to assess what I already own and what I definitely don’t wear enough to warrant ever buying again.”
