How to wear yellow, the ultimate colour for an unexpected heatwave

What started with Beyoncé and her Lemonade album has filtered through the royals and now into our wardrobes as the colour du jour
The heatwave is somehow still going, which means we’re still attempting to artfully master summer dressing by incorporating seasonal colours into our wardrobe. And this summer, the best shade to embrace the heatwave in is yellow.
If you needed some inspiration to kickstart your canary, sunflower and lemon attire take style cues from the Duchesses. Meghan Markle wore a bright yellow Brandon Maxwell shift dress to Commonwealth Youth Leadership Training events at the beginning on July. Kate Middleton took on a similarly bold Dolce & Gabbana number for this year’s men’s final at Wimbledon. And let’s not forget the yellow dress that sparked a thousand memes: the marigold Cavalli gown worn by a baseball bat-wielding Beyoncé in the video for Hold Up.
If adding yellow to your neutral wardrobe feels as jarring as the sound of knives being sharpened, I promise, it’s worth the wince. (I went through this experience too.) Yellow not only ticks a huge trend box this season, there’s also something innately optimistic about wearing a colour that literally looks like sunshine.
Whether it’s a dress, trousers, a skirt or a sharp citrus accessory, pair your yellow with easy neutrals: white, beige, camel, stone and tan. This is a celebration of colour, summer style and the lack of rain.
