Christian Louboutin's red soles, Converse's All Stars sneakers and Hunter's boots have become everyday icons. Meanwhile, we couldn't walk down the street without seeing a woman strolling in ballet slippers or brogues. Other shoes have become world famous from the small screen such as the Mary-Janes worn by Cher Horowitz's in Clueless or through popstars such as the Japanese platform shoes Emma Bunton who wore in the Wannabe music video.

The graphic map created exclusively for Stylist.co.uk by Fitflop charts the fascinating history and origins of some of the most well-known brands and silhouettes we know today. Take the tour by clicking on a link below.
