Everyone who witnessed such sartorial wonder then uploaded an image (of varying degrees of blur) onto their social media. The response was probably similar to what was happening on our Instagram: receiving a tonne of love heart emojis.

But that was in February, when our bones were considerably more chilled, and outwear was the one part of our wardrobe we were the most excited to wear.

Then the summer hit and, in a very un-British move, it actually served up some decent spells of sunshine and as such our outwear dreams were put on hold. Moved out of direct vision, we gave in to cotton smock dresses and woven bags, all whilst the JW Anderson trench hung in the background waiting its turn to rear its beautiful head again.
