You’ll likely have seen some of Kate Young’s work on and off the screens and celebrity red carpets. Over the span of her career, she has dressed a slew of It girls, including Dakota Johnson, Rachel Weisz and Sienna Miller to name a few, and most recently Margot Robbie for the Babylon premiere. In short, Young has plenty of achievements to be proud of.

Today, Young dials in from New York – kindly managing to schedule time to chat with me between dropping her son off at school, working on set and launching her second collection in collaboration with luxury jeweller Monica Vinader.

Wearing a clean-cut T-shirt and toothy grin, she is the epitome of put-together – but surprisingly sans jewellery. I ask if this is perhaps in line with her ‘less is more’ sentiment, but she assures me she “always” wears jewellery, it’s just in her bag. “I got here and I was like, I need a change and to switch my earrings,” she says. “They’re here; they just didn’t get to my ears in time.”

Her first collection with Monica Vinader last year has been seen on the wrists of stars from Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lawrence to Michelle Williams. Continuing this, the design duo hopes to bring the joy of Hollywood styling to women’s everyday wardrobes. Using tiger’s eye, reminiscent of Young’s mother’s beloved silver bracelet, each piece is beautiful in its simplicity.

“I really wanted to use it in the collection because I like the idea of stone, metal and wood coming together,” she says. “It has a magical quality to it. I definitely have a thing for it because of my mom’s jewellery box.”
