Whether you prefer to wrap yourself up in chunky knits, fine cashmere, corduroy, tweed, suede, leather or silk, the key fashion trend this autumn is mixing up your materials and textures to create something ever-so stylish – and entirely unexpected.

So, naturally, velvet has transitioned from the catwalks to the high street, too. And, better still, it comes in a myriad of bold and bright colours: think deep reds, royal blues, mermaid-esque teals, glamorous golds, parakeet greens and burnt oranges – all of which are just perfect when it comes to lifting up the earthy tones of your autumnal wardrobe.

After trawling through Instagram hashtags, it seems as if there’s one must-have velvet item in particular which everyone is obsessing over.

And, surprise surprise, it’s a pair of trousers.

With three colours available (green, yellow and navy), the trousers have been cut in a casual, loose-fitting style that just grazes the ankles – but that sumptuous fabric makes them feel far more dressy than your usual pair of jeans.

And, at £59.99, they’ve certainly stolen the hearts of people on Instagram:

They’ve been spotted all over the place – from the FROW at Fashion Weeks around Europe, to nipping down the shops for a pint of milk.

So far, the yellow and the green versions have proven the most popular, but that’s not to say the navy won’t work a treat with your own outfits, too.

The trousers are still available online at the time of publication. However, it’s no understatement when we say that they are selling out seriously quickly.

So, if you want one, we recommend you act fast…
