These flat shoes have been given the royal seal of approval – and they just came back in stock…
Meghan Markle – that’s the Duchess of Sussex to you and me – is a fashion icon to many people. Indeed, every single piece she wears – including the white LINE coat she wore for her engagement shoot, the one-shouldered gown she wore for the British Fashion Awards, and her (supposedly controversial) cross-body bag – sells out almost instantly, with fans clamouring to get in on the so-called “Meghan effect”.
So it makes absolute sense that the same is true of the royal’s preferred ballet pumps, too.
While Meghan tends to favour a high-heeled shoe (she showed some serious strength and agility when she played netball in a pair of stilettos), she famously wore a saddle-coloured pair of leather flats to the 2017 Invictus Games – her first official engagement with Prince Harry.
The pumps (which retail at £264.63) sold out almost immediately, such is the power of the ‘Meghan Effect’. But, as People noted at the time, a further 25,000 people signed up to be notified when the shoes came back in stock.
It’s no wonder they’re so popular, to be honest. Designed by Sarah Flint, the shoes are crafted from Italian leather and designed to show “just the right amount of toe cleavage”.
They have also been kitted out with extra thick padding for increased comfort, making them the perfect choice for duchesses on the go (and, y’know, anyone else who plans to be on their feet for a prolonged period of time).
Now, at long last, the Natalie flats are once again available to buy online. If you want to get your mitts on them, though, we recommend that you’re quick about it – we can’t imagine they’ll be around for long.
Prefer trainers to ballet pumps? Then Meghan fashion fans will want to check out Veja-10’s sustainable sneakers, which are crafted with a stacked rubber midsole using ethically-sourced rubber from the Amazonian rainforest.
Meghan – who has always favoured eco-friendly fashion options – opted to wear a pair of the French brand’s classic black and white Veja V-10 trainers for her and Harry’s royal tour of Australia in October 2018.
And, just as soon as photos of Harry and Meghan (kitted out in the trainers, obviously) sailing across Sydney Harbour were made public, online searches for Veja V-10s skyrocketed, shooting up by 118%, resulting in it being named “the world’s hottest shoe”.
