After Meghan was spotted wearing them, online searches for the sustainable trainers have skyrocketed.
Meghan Markle is an undeniable fashion icon. Indeed, every single piece she wears – including the white LINE coat she wore for her engagement shoot – sells out almost instantly, with fans clamouring to get in on the so-called “Meghan effect”.
It’s a phenomenon that prompted Lyst to slot the Duchess of Sussex into fourth place as one of the world’s most influential style stars, and encouraged people to pay very close attention to the tiniest little details of Markle’s ensembles, too.
So, when it became apparent that the royal has been favouring one brand of trainer in particular, of course people sat up and took notice.
Eagle-eyed fashion fans may remember that Meghan donned a pair of Veja V-10 sneakers for her official royal tour of Australia last year.
And, according to Lyst, these unisex shoes have just been named among the “world’s hottest” styles.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Australia
As seen above, Meghan first wore the classic black and white Veja V-10 trainers while sailing across the Sydney harbour alongside Prince Harry during the couple’s 16-day royal tour in October 2018. And, shortly afterwards, online searches for Veja V-10s skyrocketed, shooting up by 118%.
Of course, it makes sense that Meghan – who has always favoured eco-friendly fashion options – would be a fan of Veja. The French label famously offers sustainability throughout its designs, which means its white V-10 trainers (£115) are crafted with a stacked rubber midsole using ethically-sourced rubber from the Amazonian rainforest and shaped with a white leather upper and contrasting logo-embossed black leather heel tab.

Other designers that made the “world’s hottest” list include luxury brands like Gucci, Balenciaga and Versace.
Lyst determined its findings using a comprehensive formula that ranks “six million items by volume of social media mentions, searches, page views, interactions and sales across thousands of online stores.”
