Yves Saint-Laurent famously said that he wished he had invented blue jeans, dubbing them “the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant” fashion staples of them all.

He added: “They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity – all I hope for in my clothes.”

And, to be perfectly honest, we completely get it: jeans have, over the years, gone from workman’s overalls to a complete fashion icon with enough shades and styles to satisfy almost anyone’s taste.

But which is the most popular denim trend of them all?

The folks at Pinterest have taken it upon themselves to unveil the most-pinned pair on the website.

And, while we had a pair of skinnies or casual, washed-out boyfriend jeans pegged for the number one spot, the reality is a little more surprising:

It turns out everyone is lusting after Topshop’s Panel Straight Leg Jeans – which recently went on sale for the bargain price of just £10.

There’s just one problem: the denims you’ve been dreaming about have completely sold out.

However, we do have a few alternative options for you…

There’s the V by Very Two Tone Girlfriend Jeans, for example, priced at £25:

Then there’s the Authentic 1969 Two-Tone Best Girlfriend Jeans over at Gap, selling out fast for just £19.99:

For those who prefer their jeans to be skinny as can be, there’s a tighter take on the trend over at New Look in the Tall Blue Two-Tone Skinny Jeans, which will set you back £27.99:

And, of course, ASOS has a version, too, in the ASOS White Relaxed Fit Jeans With Contrast Side Stripe In Multi Tone Wash (catchy name).

The above pair are currently selling for £55.

Still can’t shake the original jeans from your mind? Well, you can buy the exact same pair on eBay right now – although it will set you back at least £40. And, of course, you’ll have to fight off all those other bidders who are sat there eagle-eyed and waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Happy shopping, everyone.
