Orange is big for Spring, but if you were thinking about putting your bright garnments at the back of your wardrobe, you might want to think twice.

  • Alexander Wang Autumn/Winter 2012

It was all about textures on the catwalk at Alexander Wang. This metallic embossed coat was paired with a fishnet polo neck and patent knee-high boots for a luxurious yet edgy look.

This black glossy leather jacket creates the perfect contrast with crisp white trousers.

The rolled neck and sheer socks give this structured white suit an edgier look, so typical of Wang's work.

  • Alexander Wang Autumn/Winter 2012

Gisele surprised the crowd at Alexander Wang when she closed the show in this military-inspired trench coat. It wasn't the first time the Brazilian supermodel did this - remember her unexpected appearance closing Givenchy's Spring 2012 show last season?

Easing yourself into winter has never been so easy thanks to Diane Von Furstenberg's A/W12 collection. This bright little number would bring sunshine to the gloomiest winter's day.

A knee length skirt can come across as quite conservative, but not when it's paired with a sequinned top, as seen on the DVF catwalk.

  • Diane Von Furstenberg Autumn/Winter 2012

Reflective of the seasons, the looks became darker as the show went on, to the point where outfits were all a mix of greys and black, such as this jumpsuit and coat.

  • DKNY Autumn/Winter 2012

With an almost exclusively black collection, DKNY put the emphasis on textures and materials rather than colours. In this case, leather and fur details were added to an overall simple silhouette, keeping it wearable for us mere mortals.

  • DKNY Autumn/Winter 2012

We love the contrast between the printed floaty skirt and the tough look of the thick leather waist belt and jacket.

  • DKNY Autumn/Winter 2012

This textured leather skirt dresses up what could have otherwise been a very conservative outfit.

  • DKNY Autumn/Winter 2012

What would be an autumn/winter collection without a good selection of outerwear? DKNY had plenty of coat and jackets, but this leather coat is without a doubt our favourite one...

  • DKNY Autumn/Winter 2012

....However, this fur and wool coat is a very close second. Who said you could only have one coat after all?

  • Jenny Packham

A sheer shirt is perfect to dress down an embellished skirt, as seen on the Jenny Packham catwalk.

  • Jenny Packham

It's no secret that we love metallics so it shouldn't surprise you that this gold mini dress made it into our NYFW highlights.
