Ask any millennial, and they’ll tell you, in no uncertain terms, that they loved watching Nickelodeon when they were kids.
How could they not, eh? The kids TV channel reigned supreme when it came to making witty, creative and straight up hilarious cartoons – and, as watching TV all day long didn’t come with a side-serving of guilt when we were kids, Nickelodeon’s shows kept us entertained from dusk ‘til dawn.
Whether we were getting angry at Angelica’s treatment of Tommy in Rugrats, or shouting “hey football head” a la Hey Arnold! at an unwitting kid in the playground, we were all hooked on that sweet zany Americana nectar.
But then we grew up. And all of those nineties cartoons faded into distant, pleasantly hazy memories… until now, that is.
That’s right: Nickelodeon has created an adult clothing and accessories range, in a bid to enrich our lives (and our wardrobes).
The channel, in conjunction with online retailer BoxLunch, has created a range of TV-gold inspired clothing and accessories to take us back to the TV heyday of Rocko, Spongebob Squarepants and Catdog.
The collection in question boasts the iconic Rugrats Chuckie t-shirt (which can be paired with Tommy and Chuckie socks – natch), as well as a number of kitschy Hey Arnold! teddies, too.
And, on top of all the tees, hoodies, and key chains, there’s a ‘Splat’ colouring book, too: we have a feeling that it could prove a therapeutic outlet for millennials everywhere.
And on top of this joy, for every $10 you spend on the BoxLunch website (for this is a US website, after all), the company will help provide a meal via Feeding America.
The United States-based nonprofit organization is a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other community-based agencies.
